DESCRIPTION
This course aims to provide teachers from lower-secondary and secondary level with digital tools and resources that enhance teaching and learning. The course explores different digital education tools and how they can be used in the classroom not only to support teaching and learning activities but also to promote creativity, collaboration and interaction in classroom practice. One of the objectives of this teacher training course is to contribute to the development of digitally literate teachers by exploring apps, platforms, websites or other useful resources that might improve learning.
Participants are expected to have at least B1 level of English proficiency.

METHODOLOGY
The course includes input sessions as well as “how to” demonstrations of digital tools, with practice examples. Participants are asked to complete collaborative tasks in pairs, groups and as a group, with time for questions and discussion. All activities take a classroom-based teaching and learning approach.
OBJECTIVES

- To improve teachers’ digital competence, exploring digital tools and resources that can be used in the classroom.
- To create activities with digital tools and resources that favour the development of critical thinking, autonomy and responsibility of learners.
- To promote the diversified use of digital tools in teaching and learning activities.
- To promote teacher collaboration in digital environments.
- Strengthening the European collaboration among teachers in different contexts.
- Providing insights into different education systems.
PREPARATION
-
- Registered participants will receive a pre-course questionnaire to share teaching backgrounds and needs.
- One week before the course, participants will be asked to read some suggested materials to prepare themselves for the training.
- One week before the course, participants will also be asked to make a presentation about themselves, their professional context and their culture, using an online collaboration tool. Shared presentations will be online so that all participants can have a preliminary knowledge of the group they are going to be part of.
- Participants will receive information about Portugal and the city of Coimbra in order to prepare them for their cultural experience.
- Participants are expected to bring their own personal computer/ personal device.
